Water Tank Walk

per person

A beautiful lookout over Karratha is just behind the Karratha Tourism and Visitor Center. You can walk or drive up the gravel road to the Water Tank Walk. This is considered the short loop trail within the Yaburara Heritage trail. There is a parking lot at the top. The Water Tank features several telescopes and a purpose-built lookout with benches. There are shaded seating areas but no other facilities. Please take your trash with you.

The Water Tank walk and lookout is also the starting point of the Yaburara Heritage trail. From here you can walk all the way to the Leisureplex and enjoy the stunning views along the trail. This part of the trail is the Short Look Trail and spans 2.25km over red rocky paths. If you want to walk the trail, choose to go late in the afternoon or early in the morning. During those times of the day, there is the best light and views. There are points of interest along the way and you can see some Aboriginal Petroglyphs on the red rocks. Please make sure to take your trash with you to keep the area beautiful. It is also a cultural spot for the local indigenous communities, so make sure to read our how to stay respectful in the Pilbara.
