Maitland Bush Trails
per person
If you are looking for a unique perspective and view of the Karratha area, why not check the hills outback near the north coast highway and Warlu Way. Access to these trails is available for all-wheel-drive vehicles. Take the first left turn after Warlu Way on the way out of town. Around 1km down this track, you will see a well-camouflaged dirt track. This track heads towards the rocky hills to the Maitland Bush Trails. If you follow this with your four-wheel drive you will find some car wrecks, a steep rocky hill climb, and a makeshift shooting range.
Warning. There appears to be an amateur shooting range located to the right of the hill climb, so please be careful and vigilant about gun enthusiasts, your pets, and safety.
The Maitland Bush Trails
This red rocky landscape provides great opportunities for jogging, bushwalking, riding mountain bikes, and exploring the countryside. In addition, during the winter months there are many beautiful wildflowers dotting the harsh landscape. Grab your camera or plant identification book to see how many western Australian wattles you can spot.
Please remain respectful in the Pilbara
Since there are no facilities or official trails. Please make sure to be vigilant for your location, bring plenty of potable water, wear closed and sturdy shoes, and watch out for generous snakes. Be mindful to leave the country undisturbed and take all of your trash with you. Help preserve the beautiful Pilbara region by staying on the tracks and not climbing on the iron red rocks.
