Horse Shoe Gorge
Horse Shoe Gorge is a beautiful freshwater gorge a short four-wheel-drive away from Warlu Road. Unfortunately, since part of the road has washed out, there are two relatively steep and challenging parts of the track that require some four-wheel driving experience. If you wish to avoid these, you can park on the road and instead walk 700m. The walk is along the beautiful rocky riverbed.
This Gorge is one of the most popular gorges in the Millstream Chichester National Park. It has large trees that provide ample shade and the perfect spot for camping and relaxing under the green canopy. After the rain, the water is clean and fresh, and perfect for a swim or kayak. In the winter, the area can be quite dry without much water.
One of the closer gorges to Karratha, only an hour away, this is a must-visit spot after the rainy season. Horse Shoe Gorge has no facilities available, so please take all your trash and debris with you. Let’s keep the Pilbara beautiful by taking care of our nature. lDisclosure, some recent reports have mentioned that the road to access here is closed. This is because Rio Tino owns part of the private road.
