The Dampier Foreshore stretches along with this entire little historic town well known from the Red Dog story. While the esplanade connects the multiple beaches, the most popular spot on the shore is the Dampier Boat Ramp Beach near Dampier Sharks Football Club field. The Windy Ridge Oval is a popular spot for weekend football games or couples enjoying the sunset from the grass. This four-lane boat ramp provides easy access into the water for mot vessels during mid and high tide. Check the tides here. Care must be taken when attempting to lower or raise your boat below a 0.6m tide.

During those times, the yacht club boat ramp is better suited. To use this locked boat ramp, you are required to pay a yearly fee of 200$. The boat ramp on the north side of Dampier has abundant parking spots however they do fill up on calm and windless days.

The Beach is Tide Dependent

Apart from boating, there are also sandy beaches on either side of the boat ramp channel. During high tide, swimmers can enjoy the calm water. There are a couple of shade structures where beachgoers can hide from the strong sun. During low tide, rocks are exposed and you can instead explore the marine creatures that inhabit the rock pools. Just above the sand of the beach, there is a grassy patch leading down from the sports field. This grass patch has some shade from trees and provides a fantastic picnic area of place to watch the sunset.
The beach further towards the yacht club also has beach access for your vehicle and makes a great spot to lower kayaks into the water. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are other popular activities in the area.

Facilities at the Dampier Beach Boat ramp

In terms of facilities, there are bathrooms, shaded areas, and seating areas situated further south of the boat ramp. There is also a parking area designated for beachgoers there. There are bins available so please use them to dispose of rubbish to keep Dampier clean. The beaches are a great spot to sunbake, relax, swim, walk dogs, or watch the sunset in Dampier bay. Watch for commercial and private watercraft traveling at Dampier Boat Ramp Beach.
