Dampier Archipelago

Dampier Archipelago

per person

A short tinny, boat, or kayak paddle can bring you from the beach launch at Whitnell Bay. The best part of Karratha is the incredible archipelago. The islands in the Dampier Archipelago have an incredible array of fish life, coral reefs, and sandy beaches. Anglers enjoy anchoring off this island to try their luck with reef fish, while beachgoers prefer to relax on the sandy beach.

The island has large volcanic rocks separated by light white beaches. Snorkeling, fishing, and swimming are all possible off the beach. There is a safe anchoring. The waters surrounding the Dampier Islands include dolphins, green sea turtles, manta rays, and more. There are blue tusk fish, mangrove jack, Spanish mackerel, and coral trout

To take care of the islands in the Dampier Archipelago it is important to respect the rules and regulations put in place. Camping is only permitted on certain islands, and you must stay within 100m off the water line to protect the unique flora and fauna native to the islands. There are no facilities so please take all of your rubbish with you. Anchor in the sand to protect coral and sponges growing on the seafloor, and ensure your boat and clothing are clean and free of pests, mud or seeds.
