A short drive away from Karratha, Cleaverville can be reached by a 2wd vehicle in just half an hour. Drive along National Highway 1 North until you reach the turnoff onto Cleaverville road. This part of the track is unsealed, however remains firm and safe to drive in most conditions. However, certain parts of Cleaverville beach are better suited for four-wheel drives, but you can park and walk any vehicle safely. Check out this video for a glimpse of the surroundings.

Camping at Cleaverville

Cleaverville offers plenty of camping spots for a small fee during high season from 1st of May till the 30th of September. During offseason, camping is free. In addition, there are also plenty of spots ideal for day trips with shaded areas under trees. Similarily, there are several beaches stretching along the coast, basic facilities including toilets and picnic tables.

Considerations for Camping

Here are some of the basic rules and information about the Cleaverville Camping.

  • 28 night maximum stay
  • Each campsite must have a chemical toilet as on site toilets are for day use visitors only
  • If you can’t find a site, contact the caretaker
  • Campers may need to move to another site to prevent overcrowding
  • Camping is not permitted where coastal rehabilitation works have been undertaken
  • No potable water on site
  • Sullage points are available
  • During the camping season, check in with the caretaker to be directed to a suitable site
  • Camp only within the existing campsites
  • Maintain 3m clearance between campsites
  • Site must be tidy and clear on departure
  • Rubbish must be placed in the bins
  • Bring your own firewood for cooking fires (no existing foliage to be damaged)
  • No open fires of any type on very high, extreme or catastrophic fire danger days
  • Antisocial behaviour is not tolerated
