A perfect destination for a short day trip adventure from Karratha. 40 Mile beach has a boat ramp, picnic tables, camping grounds, and plenty of beach space.

To reach 40 mile beach, you will need to drive 40km south along National Highway At the Gnoorea turn-off, the road becomes unsealed. However the beach can be reached with 2 wheel drive. Four-wheel drive tracks branch off from the main lookout at the Gnoorea Point campground and boat ramp. There are plenty of little turn offs you can take to explore the area.

The boat ramp can only be used during high tide, as it launches straight on the beach. Here is a link to the tide times. In addition, if you want to fish, make sure to check out the fishing rules. Western Australia requires everyone to have a fishing license.

The camping is free during the offseason from 1st October until 30th of April. Otherwise, a 16$ camping per car fee can be applied online, or in cash on a person from 1st May until the 30th of September. It is a beautiful place to stay the night or a couple of nights. On windy days, it can be a little uncomfortable. Click here for more.
