Hearsons Cove is one of the most popular spots in Karratha. During high tide, it is a great beach to swim at, while low tide reveals expansive tidal mudflats. It is easily accessible by two-wheel and four-wheel drive. For those who wish to set up further along the beach, they can bring their 4×4 onto the shell-filled beach.

On windy days the cove can also accumulate significant waves for people to give surfing a try. People bring their dogs, children, and picnics to explore the cove and relax on the beach. Here are some other dog-friendly areas. There are toilets, picnic tables, and shaded areas. Fishing is also permitted from the beach, but no disposal of fish carcasses is allowed in the bins. There are bathrooms, shaded areas, and bins.

Hearsons Cove is also well known as one of the spots to watch the famous staircase to the moon. Simply set up your viewing spot on the beach during low tide and watch the giant moon rise over the ocean. Nearby Hearsons Cove there are also some cultural sites worth checking out.
